GMA to screen 'Lost Sabungeros' in schools amid MTRCB dispute

GMA Films producer and senior vice president for public affairs Nessa Valdellon last week posted on Facebook that a new cut of the documentary "Lost Sabungeros" has been completed and will be screened in schools after, she said, "for the second time, MTRCB has refused to review the film.
-
The documentary, directed by Kristoffer J. Brazil, follows the case of more than 30 missing cockfighting enthusiasts. It was originally slated for the Cinemalaya Film Festival in August 2024 but was removed from the lineup after the CCP cited "security concerns." The film later had its world premiere at the QCinema International Film Festival in November 2024 before starting a "university tour."
"We've completed a new cut of 'THE LOST SABUNGEROS': with fresh footage, revelations from the whistleblower and updates on the families. But for the second time, MTRCB has refused to review the film. Ergo: we STILL can't screen in theaters or on TV.
"So we're taking our docu directly to audiences through school tours," Valdellon stated.
The MTRCB issued a statement denying that it refused to review the film.
