Careless whisker: Baddiel's new show is just the cat's pyjamas

The term 'crazy cat lady' isn't one any of us particularly wants to be labelled with.
It conjures up visions of slightly whiffy spinsters wearing threadbare cardigans and surrounded by 30 or so semi-feral moggies.Cat man, though, is another matter. And it's a moniker that David Baddiel is more than happy to embrace. The comedian is the proud owner of four felines who make regular appearances throughout the three-part show David Baddiel: Cat Man.
He's attempting to redress the balance that while dogs get more than their fair share of TV coverage, there aren't any shows about cats. Instead, they're popular in social media; the hashtag #catsofinstagram has more than 212m posts on the platform's mobile app.
If dogs are paid employees, jokes comedian and feline enthusiast Josh Widdicombe, then cats are freelance.
Dogs are working class or upper class; cats are middle class. Or, as Baddiel's former comedy partner Frank Skinner would have it, "dogs are slapstick, cats are satire".
