Woman woke to weight of man on her, court hears

|April 25, 2025
A WOMAN has told a court how she woke up in bed during a house party and discovered she was being raped by a man who said he was her ex-boyfriend.
The alleged victim described how she left the house in Carmarthen in January 2002 and headed into the centre of town with friends.
After suddenly feeling unwell, she was forced to return to the house, where she was sick. She was helped into a bed by her friend, but was later awoken by a "heavy sensation" and a "thrusting movement".
She said: "I moved my head, opened my eyes and saw this awful face in front of me, really, really close.
There was no sensation in my body. I couldn't feel anything apart from weight on my chest. I said 'get off' twice. My hands didn't work to push someone off. I was trying to push him off."
When asked by prosecution barrister Matthew Cobbe how the man responded, she replied: "He said, 'It's OK, it's [name of her ex boyfriend]'"
She added that "he did not stop. I was stuck".
