Young trekkers far exceed their charity target

GOING for a walk with friends turned out to be a triumph for charity as an original target of £100 for Cancer Research UK had grown to almost £1,700 by the start of this week.

The trek from Lodge Hill in Castle Cary to Glastonbury Tor, a 28km route, was undertaken by twelve friends from Year 11 at Ansford Academy.

One of the group, Dexter Stickland, said: "I decided to go for a walk and initially invited five, but because of holidays over the half term and two of the people being unable to go, we decided to invite a much larger group of 12 of us.
