Ex-police officer pursued relationship with woman he met on duty

A FORMER police officer has been sentenced for forming an inappropriate relationship with a woman he met while on duty.
-
Martyn Newitt, 39, was a temporary police sergeant for Devon and Cornwall Police when he was called to attend the home of a woman following an incident involving her former partner in May 2020.
Bristol Crown Court heard he initially exchanged professional messages with the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, on his police phone.
