Teacher with 'impeccable previous character' caused serious road crash

A TRURO primary school teacher has been spared jail after her careless driving seriously injured a motorcyclist who needed to take more than two years off work to recover.
Catherine Coffee, 37, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, April 29, having previously been convicted by a jury, following a two-day trial, of causing serious injury by careless driving.
Coffee, of Portheast Way in Gorran Haven, near St Austell, was charged following a collision which occurred on October 6, 2022, in Tregony.
Coffee's Seat Ibiza struck the male motorcyclist because she was driving without due care and attention, the prosecution said.
