Vietnam and UK stress importance of trade

Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung told British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew at a meeting on May 20 that there is more space for both nations to intensify cooperation in many sectors such as trade and investment, finance, science and technology, education and training, renewable energy, and defence and security.

PM Hung suggested that the two countries increase mutual exchanges of visits and contacts at all levels.

“He proposed that both sides to expedite coordination in formulating an action plan to materialise the Vietnam-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership forged in October 2025,” stated the Department of Information and Press under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We commit to cooperate to promote and strengthen trade and investment based on non-discrimination and mutual benefit,” read a joint statement released last October. “Vietnam and the UK will strive to enable a fair, transparent and open business environment in both countries, removing market access barriers and facilitating smooth two-way trade, so our businesses can export and invest with confidence.”
