In addition to cementing defence cooperation, Vietnam and Singapore are seeking to increase their economic ties, with industrial park development being one of the key pillars.

- By Khoi Nguyen

Last week, at the invitation of the Singapore Ministry of Defence, a delegation from the Vietnamese counterpart led by Deputy Minister of Defence Hoang Xuan Chien attended the Singapore Airshow.

Chien met with Chan Heng Kee, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Singapore. Both sides expressed their hope that they will continue to coordinate and promote comprehensive cooperation in many sectors such as focusing on naval cooperation, training, and cybersecurity. This will help elevate bilateral defence cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore to a new level.

On January 30, Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam talked over the phone with Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party and Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong. The Vietnamese leader suggested the two countries enhance political trust through high-level contacts, carry out the 2025-2030 action plan, soon set up a Party-to-Party dialogue mechanism, and expand cooperation in high technology, renewable energy, Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) 2.0 development, and carbon credit exchanges.
