NIGHT-TIME ECONOMY OPENS GROWTH SPACE
Vietnam Investment Review
|June 01, 2026
Cultural tourism is emerging as a key driver of Vietnam's cultural industry. Dr. Ha Van Sieu, deputy director of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, told VIR’s Hoang Oanh how the night-time economy could unlock new value.

What role is culture tourism playing in Vietnam’s cultural sector strategy?
Cultural tourism in Vietnam has been identified as one of the priority sectors for development, along with cinema, performing arts, fine arts, fashion, publishing, and handicrafts.
This reflects the very close relationship between culture and tourism. It can be said that culture is a resource for tourism development, while tourism is an effective way to transform cultural values into economic value.
The development of the cultural industry is not only aimed at generating revenue or driving growth, but also contributes to preserving national identity, enhancing the country's image, and building Vietnamese cultural brands.
Vietnam has tremendous advantages in this field. We currently have more than 40,000 historical and cultural sites, nearly 70,000 inventoried intangible cultural heritage elements, nearly 8,000 festivals, along with a system of national parks, geoparks, biosphere reserves, and many distinctive cultural spaces.
What will the new growth areas be for culture to create greater value?
