Vietnam's semiconductor strategy is a long-term roadmap involving capacity, investment, and testing

Global semiconductor companies are continuing to explore collaboration and expand investments in Vietnam, drawn by the country's strategic push to build a stronger chip ecosystem.

On March 3, Dutch chip packaging equipment maker BE Semiconductor Industries (Besi) unveiled that it will invest $1 billion to build a new advanced packaging fab in Vietnam this year. The move is part of Besi's broad plan to invest $100 billion globally.

The company anticipates that capital expenditures will range between $11.6 and $14 million in 2026 primarily associated with the start of construction of a new Vietnamese production facility.

Besi established a new production facility in Vietnam in 2024 to expand its capabilities in alignment with customer roadmaps as many move their operations from China to Southeast Asia. Last year, it completed an expansion of its Vietnam production facility to support the continued migration of customers to the region.
