Airlines steadfast in achieving high growth
Vietnam Investment Review
|April 20, 2026
Vietnamese air carriers are confident of maintaining high growth for the rest of this year on the back of their strategic plans.
Vietnam's airline companies are moving ahead with new strategies to pull in more customers
According to research released by MB Securities in March, Vietnam's aviation industry will maintain strong growth momentum, returning to pre-pandemic growth rates thanks to increased international passenger numbers, visa exemption policies, a stable political environment, and reasonable living costs.
The research forecasts that domestic passenger traffic through airports will reach approximately 75 million in 2026, a 5 per cent increase compared to the previous year. However, the growth rate will no longer be as high as during the post-pandemic recovery period.
At home, airlines are experience market advantages, reflecting recovery in the travelling demand and effectiveness in its expansion of international flight network.
In the market, the number of international visitor arrivals reached 13.5 million during the first quarter, an increase of 16 per cent compared to the same period last year and exceeding forecasts; the domestic market reached approximately 9.95 million, an increase of 9.6 per cent.
Entering the second quarter, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is developing flexible operational scenarios, focusing on optimising flight networks on key domestic and international routes, while tightly controlling operating costs and improving fleet utilisation efficiency amid rising fuel prices.
The airline has moved to introduce new services for customers, including a lounge which allows passengers to check-in for their flight right in the waiting area.
