LABOUR has vowed to beef up laws that ban firms from blacklisting union workers.
Deputy Leader Angela Rayner wants to prevent rogue bosses using third-party firms to identify union members.
Labour's shake-up would also block the use of AI in "spotting" union members while firms could be ordered to destroy any lists they have. Ms Rayner said: "Blacklisting is a destructive practice that leaves people locked out of work, often facing poverty.
"Labour's New Deal for Working People will bring the biggest upgrade to workers' rights in a generation." Ms Rayner, who addresses the TUC conference in Brighton on Tuesday, was in Blackpool yesterday as part of a tour of industrial heartlands and coastal towns - in a camper van backed by this paper.
Blacklist rules came in after more than 40 firms used a third party to blacklist 3,200 workers.
Employers can be fined up to &pound;500,000 for using blacklists but proving it is incredibly hard.
