Welsh First Minister open to tax on wealthy who rake in millions

- LIZZY BUCHAN

Broadest shoulders should pay more

LABOUR'S leader in Wales has welcomed the idea of a wealth tax as Keir Starmer battles to balance the books after his climbdown on cutting disability benefit.

Arguing those with broad shoulders should help out, Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan said taxing people who earn over £10million "is not a bad idea".

She also piled pressure on Mr Starmer's government to scrap the Tory two-child benefit limit, saying: "It's causing hardship in a lot of families".

Her comments came as she seeks to draw a dividing line between Cardiff Bay and Westminster defining a "Red Welsh Way".

Ms Morgan has become increasingly critical of Mr Starmer's government, likening their differences to the BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, which is set in Essex and South Wales.
