Sonipat’s Aditi Sheoran stars as Plaza Zone clinches UTCA title

Young all-rounder Aditi Sheoran from Haryana’s Sonipat district produced an impressive all-round performance to help Plaza Zone emerge unbeaten champions in the Under-19 Women's T20 Tournament organised by the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), strengthening her prospects for higher honours in age-group cricket.

The tournament was held in Chandigarh from 25 June to 3 July, with matches played at the DAV School cricket ground in Sector 8 and the cricket ground in Sector 16. Plaza Zone dominated the competition, winning all their matches to lift the title without suffering a single defeat.

Among the standout performers was Aditi, a resident of Dubheta village in Sonipat and a student of Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh. She made significant contributions with both bat and ball throughout the tournament, underlining her credentials as one of the region's most promising young cricketers.

Across four matches, the right-handed opener scored 98 runs and claimed six wickets, finishing as her teams leading wicket-taker while also emerging as the second-highest run-scorer. Her consistent displays earned her the Player of the Match award on two occasions during the tournament.

One of her most notable bowling performances came when she returned figures of three wickets for just 11 runs from two overs, helping restrict the opposition and laying the foundation for victory. She also delivered under pressure in the final, where she switched her focus to batting and played a decisive role in sealing the championship.
