Delhi victory kindles BJP's hopes in Bengal

BJP aims to repeat its stellar performance in the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2026.
News of the Bharatiya Janata Party's overwhelming victory and the decimation of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi elections has sparked a wave of excitement 1,500 km away in Bengal.
As the Bengal unit of the BJP erupted in exultation, firing off tweet after tweet, the Trinamool Congress - which had supported Arvind Kejriwal's party and even sent its MP Shatrughan Sinha to campaign for AAP in Delhi - struggled to distance itself from the debacle of both its I.N.D.I.A bloc partners - AAP and Congress.
The common refrain of Bengal BJP leaders on their X handle and among its members was: "Delhi got rid of AAP, now is the turn of Bengal's PAAP," referring to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress.
