Is it safe to purchase car parts online and what should I pay attention to?
Generally, it is safe to purchase automotive parts online. While you will always read or hear about transactions where defective parts or non-genuine products were delivered, or goods that never arrived, such episodes are few and far between.
A quick online search using keywords like "car brand + water pump + online" should display a host of sellers.
As a buyer, you have to do your homework. This includes reading up on the suppliers, checking how they are rated online and looking through reviews by other buyers. Consult friends who have experience in shopping for parts online and ask them to recommend preferred sellers.
A good source of information about overseas online parts suppliers is the classic car community, because many of its members would have searched the world to source the rarest components, many of which are no longer in production.
