Market snaps 3-session losing run; barring Media, Pharma other indices end high

The stock market on Monday ended with healthy gains, snapping its three-session losing run on buying across segments.

At close, Sensex gained 555 points, or 0.70 per cent, at 80,364.49, while the Nifty 50 ended the day at 24,625.05, up 198 points, or 0.81 per cent. About 2681 shares advanced, 1,320 shares declined, and 173 shares were unchanged.

The BSE Midcap index jumped 1.64 per cent, while the Smallcap index rose 1.49 per cent. Overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms jumped to nearly Rs 449 lakh crore from below Rs 444 lakh crore in the previous session.
