At close, Sensex was down 112.16 points or 0.15 percent at 73,085.94, and the Nifty was down 5.40 points or 0.02 percent at 22,119.30
Benchmark indices ended marginally lower on Monday amid high volatility. At close, Sensex was down 112.16 points or 0.15 percent at 73,085.94, and the Nifty was down 5.40 points or 0.02 percent at 22,119.30.
The market volatility was driven by mixed cues including better domestic data points like better GDP data, rising GST collections, but uncertainty over global trade and Ukraine peace deal weighed on markets.
Nifty ended in the negative zone for the ninth consecutive session, while BSE Sensex ended lower for the second consecutive day.
Throughout the day, Nifty reached a high of 22,261.55 and a low of 22,004.7 while the Sensex fluctuated within the range of 73,649.72 and 72,784.54.
