CM seeks extension of loan repayment for PACS

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi sought central support in terms of extending loan repayment period for the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) from 5 to 10 years, revival of sugar mills in Bargarh and Bolangir.
Vast areas in northern parts of Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts were inundated by overflowing rivers on Monday calling for evacuation of people and rescue measures.
Official sources said Baitarani and Subarnarekha rivers are flowing above the danger marks at Akhuapada and Rajghat respectively. The water level of the Subarnarekha showed signs of receding today.
A 80 ft wide breach occurred in Kani river, a tributary of Baitarani in Jajpur district submerging several panchayats of Dasarathpur block.
In Bhadrak district, floodwater entered several areas of Dhamnagar, prompting the administration to close schools and Anganwadi centres.
In Balasore district, floodwaters entered villages of Jaleswar. Basta, Baliapal, Jaleswar and Bhogarai blocks are affected and several panchayats cut off from the headquarters.
