Prime accused in ₹7.68 lakh cyber fraud arrested from Bhadrak

THE Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police on Sunday arrested the prime accused in a cyber fraud case involving fake stock market investments amounting to Rs 7.68 lakh.
The accused has been identified as Amulya Kumar Sahoo (40), a resident of Sainta village in the Gopalpur area under Chandbali Police Station in Bhadrak district. He was apprehended in Bhadrak with the support of Chandbali Police.
According to DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, the arrest follows a complaint filed on January 5, 2025, in which the victim reported being duped by an online group posing as representatives of Allianz Global Investors, a fake investment firm.
The victim had joined a WhatsApp group on November 14, 2024, where he was persuaded to open a “VIP trading account” using a mobile application called ‘Trade Genius’.
