'Shrek' and 'Bagets' to take the stage next
The Philippine Star
|July 16, 2025
After the successful run of "Delia D.: A Musical Featuring the Songs of Jonathan Manalo," Newport World Resorts is set to raise the curtain for its next major productions.
-
These are the whimsical "Shrek The Musical," opening this Oct. 31, and the nostalgia-fueled "Bagets The Musical" in early 2026.
The original Filipino musical "Delia D." recently closed its run after staging a total of 30 shows at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
"We are reminded of the power of live performance with its ability to move, to connect and to inspire," said Newport World Resorts president and CEO Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez as he commended the cast, creatives and crew who joined him onstage to celebrate the finale.
With "Delia D." now a part of its theatrical legacy, Newport World Resorts continues to pursue its vision of making the Philippines the "Broadway of Asia" by unveiling its next two banner shows.
