HOW 'SUMMER BLAST 2026' BECAME HISTORIC CULTURAL MOMENT

April 27, 2026

IN THE WORDS OF NET25 president Caesar Vallejos, "It was a first in the history of the Philippine concert scene — two colossal venues brought to life in one night: the Philippine Arena and its equally grandiose Philippine Sports Stadium, the favorite venue of international K-pop artists.

HOW 'SUMMER BLAST 2026' BECAME HISTORIC CULTURAL MOMENT

This was “Summer Blast 2026,” held in Bocaue, Bulacan on April 19. Both venues were filled to the rafters; yet, despite the jampacked interior, thousands remained outside.

It resulted in the viral “Team Labas” memes generated by those gathered around the strategic giant LED screens across Ciudad de Victoria, while “Team Loob” celebrated inside. An estimated crowd of over 200,000 braved the tropical heat, jumping, screaming and dancing in a collective defiance of exhaustion to the showstopping performances.

The technical feat was staggering: performances alternated live between the two venues. When the arena was live, the stadium watched the broadcast, and vice-versa, ensuring both crowds experienced the same high-octane energy simultaneously.

The festivities kicked off at the arena with Jumanji, whose driving rhythms effectively hyped the massive crowd. The energy then shifted to the stadium for the grand opening by international star Billy Crawford. Billy delivered a masterclass in stage presence, performing a high-energy medley of Bounce That, Filipina Girl, Love is in the Air and Bright Lights. His seamless choreography and vocal prowess set a sophisticated tone for the night.

As the show transitioned, Sugarcane took the stadium stage, enchanting fans with the melodic storytelling of Paru-Paro, Tanging Ikaw, Leonora and Kung Maging Akin Ka.
