Gov't Decision on Bundled Airport PPP Out by Year-End
The Philippine Star
|August 20, 2025
The Gokongwei and Gotianun families will know before the end of the year whether they will land the original proponent status for the P16.05-billion upgrade of the Davao, Bicol and Siargao airports.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is conducting a detailed evaluation for the bundled offer to rehabilitate the Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao, Southern Luzon International Airport in Albay and the Sayak Airport in Siargao.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has given his team until the end of the year to look into the public-private partnership (PPP) proposal filed by the Philippine Regional Airports Consortium.
If the DOTr approves the proposal, the consortium will receive the original proponent status for the project. This means when the DOTr gathers comparative offers, the group can match them as part of its right as the original proponent.
