Congress Plans to Hold Stir Against Fuel Price Hike in Pondy

THE Puducherry Congress, led by state president and Lok Sabha member V Vaithilingam, has warned of widespread protests if the government does not roll back the recent petrol, diesel and bus fare price hikes.
Addressing reporters on Friday, Vaithilingam criticised the administration for imposing additional financial burdens on people already reeling from the effects of Cyclone Fengal.
Vaithilingam stated that the recent increase in fuel prices would generate an additional ₹60 crore for the government but would negatively affect locals recovering from the cyclone's impact.
He took a jab at the hike, terming it a 'New Year gift' that exacerbates the struggles of the citizenry.
