17 Dead as 4-Storey Building Collapses in Mumbai Suburb

Seventeen people were killed and several were injured after a portion of the Ramabai Apartment in Virar, an extended suburb of Mumbai, collapsed Wednesday.
According to civic officials, the incident took place while members of the Jovil family were celebrating the first birthday of Utkarsha Omkar Jovil on the building's fourth floor. The one-year-old girl died immediately, while her 23-year-old mother also succumbed. Her father, Omkar Jovil, remains missing and is believed to be trapped under debris.
