More women than men voted in Assam polls over last decade

ASSAM has a recent history of more women voting in the elections than men, and the 2026 Assembly elections have kept the gender trend on the same curve.
In the last decade, the two genders have got even in terms of voting percentage only once, as per the Election Commission.
The April 9 voter turnout of 85.91% is the highest ever in any election in the state. The turnout was 85.33% for men and 86.50% for women. The turnout in the 2021 Assembly elections was 84.33% for men and 84.67% for women. Similarly, in 2016 Assembly elections, it stood at 81.60% for men and 82.01% for women.
