Navy Inducts Last Foreign-Built Warship INS Tamal into its Fleet

INDIAN Navy's Russian-manufactured guided missile frigate INS Tamal (F71), which features an array of guns, surveillance systems and BrahMos supersonic missile, was commissioned into the force on Tuesday at Yantar Shipyard in Russia's coastal city of Kaliningrad.

INS Tamal, the last such platform inducted from a foreign source, is the eighth multi-role stealth frigate in the series of Project 1135.6 and second of the additional follow-on Tushil class of ships. The first ship of Tushil class (INS Tushil) was commissioned on December 9, 2024.
