India, Bangladesh Agree to Curb Illegal Movements on International Border

The Directorate General-level talks between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) concluded on Thursday, with both sides agreeing to tighten border security and reduce illegal cross-border movement.

The discussions, which began on August 25, culminated in the signing of a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD). During the talks, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Director-General of BGB, raised concerns about the "indiscriminate shootings and killings of Bangladeshi nationals by BSF personnel and Indian citizens along the border".
