Flash floods cause extensive damage to a portion of Srinagar-Jammu highway, traffic hit
INCESSANT rains and cloudburst triggered flash floods and landslides in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district on Sunday, leaving three people, including two brothers, dead while over 100 have been rescued and shifted to safer places.
The flash floods caused extensive damage to a portion of Srinagar-Jammu highway forcing authorities to close vehicular movement on the road link connecting Srinagar with the rest of the country.
J&K has been witnessing heavy rains since Friday evening. Officials said a cloudburst struck the Seribagna village of Ramban, resulting in the deaths of three persons, including brothers Aqib Ahmad and Mohammad Saqib. The rescue operation in the village was continuing, they said.
