One arrested as donation fraud racket busted by the Gujarat police

- DILIP SINGH KSHATRIYA @ Ahmedabad

A major fraud has come to light in Ahmedabad after the Crime Branch nabbed Ali Medhat Alzaher (23), a Syrian national, who was posing as a Gaza war victim to collect donations from the city mosques. "We received a tip-off about foreigners going to mosques in the guise of Gaza victims and extorting money. During our search, we intercepted Alzaher, whose profile looked suspicious," said a senior Crime Branch officer.

Officials say the accused not only duped worshippers but also revealed that several of his associates have gone underground in India.
