A woman and her 15-day-old baby were rescued by the Army after being stranded in a Punjab village due to flooding.

- HARPREET BAJWA @Chandigarh

A total of 47 columns, including Army Aviation and IAF Helicopters-based columns, have been deployed to carry out extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in parts of Punjab and Jammu that have been inundated by heavy flooding. Besides, the Border Security Force (BSF) rescued an elderly woman in need of medical treatment. A boat was sent to a government school for troop withdrawal due to a significant rise in water levels. But during the operation, a villager requested assistance to evacuate the seriously ill woman. Then the BSF personnel brought her on board and safely transported her to Pattan for medical treatment.
