Move aims to optimise use of underutilised real estates under DoT
The government has approved a policy allowing the direct transfer of surplus land and building assets of telecom PSUs—BSNL, MTNL, and ITI—to Central Government departments and organisations without the need for auction to accelerate asset monetisation.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the Committee of Secretaries (CoS), chaired by the Cabinet Secretary on June 12, 2025.
The move aims to optimise use of underutilised public sector real estate and expedite asset utilisation under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
