Be prepared to tackle floods, waterlogging: DC to officials

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ Hubballi

The pace of construction work of the flyover in and around the Rani Chennamma Circle is being hindered by incessant rains for the past one week and a lack of adequate availability of construction workers. Although progress has been made compared to the status three weeks ago, it has not yet reached the expected level.

Construction of flyover pillars and laying girders and slabs were part of the elevated corridor being constructed to bypass the traffic on the busy Rani Chennamma Circle. Since work has been going on for the past few months around the Circle, the businesses established there have been facing considerable hardship, besides the general public getting affected. While the public are hit by regular traffic jams, businesses of the nearby shopkeepers have been badly affected.

However, Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginkai has taken a personal interest in monitoring the ongoing work and has been pushing the officials and contractor to expedite the construction work. He has been inspecting the works every three weeks to put pressure on the officials and contractor to complete the work at the earliest.
