Musician Harini 'Rini' Raghavan on her latest indi-fusion collaborative

THERE IS A growing body of music today that refuses to sit neatly within borders, be they geographic or stylistic. Ragaverse, a fusion collaboration by musician Harini Srinivasa Raghavan, aka, RINI belongs to this category. As part of its India tour, Ragaverse, curated by Quriosity, will be performing in Chennai this week, and we speak to the members ahead of its performance.

Harini, a Chennai-born, New Jersey-based vocalist, violinist, and composer, has for nearly a decade been exploring Carnatic grammar mixed with jazz structure, electronic textures, and global improvisational practices. The project, which began in 2015, has since evolved through different lineups and musical geographies, carrying with it a core idea of openness.
