A special team of Avadi police recently busted a case where traders from the India-Pakistan border districts of Rajasthan had allegedly cheated an Ambattur-based chemical factory of several lakhs of rupees by procuring sulphur-based fertilisers without paying for them.

- SIDDHARTH PRABHAKAR

In scenes reminiscent of the 2017 Tamil blockbuster 'Dheeran Adigaram Ondru', the team of five to six officers led by woman inspector Rekha negotiated hostile villagers and territory to arrest two accused and bring them back to Chennai on January 29.

According to the Avadi police, they received a complaint from Standard Chemical Co Pvt Ltd, which deals in sulphur-based fertilisers, about non-payment of dues by agents especially from Rajasthan.
