The country's balance of payments (BoP) turned positive with current account balance recording a surplus of $13.5 billion (1.3% of GDP) in Q4FY25 compared to $4.6 billion (0.5% of GDP) in Q4FY24 and a deficit of $11.3 billion (1.1% of GDP) in Q3FY25, showed the RBI data released on Friday.

For the full fiscal year of 2024-25, current account remained in $23.3 billion (0.6% of GDP) deficit, lower than $26 billion (0.7% of GDP) in FY24, primarily due to higher net invisible receipts.

On the other hand, the central bank said the country's external debt rose by $67.5 billion to $736.3 billion in March 2025, which in terms of external debt-to-GDP ratio rose 19.1% from 18.5% in March 2024.
