Councillor leaves Reform following suspension
The Journal
|December 12, 2025
A COUNTY Durham councillor has left Reform UK following his suspension by the party.
-
Councillor Paul Bean now serves the Crook ward as an Independent after undergoing a disciplinary procedure.
Reform UK suspended Coun Bean in August following backlash over purported social media posts targeting asylum seekers and the party itself.
Activists claimed his remarks could have violated civil service neutrality regulations given his position at the Home Office.
It is believed that Coun Bean was ousted from the party in September and no longer appears as a Reform UK representative on Durham County Council’s official website.
