Billy to dance to Elliot's tune on his Heed return

Former loan star Billy Chadwick has returned to Gateshead in a permanent deal

BILLY Chadwick has described his return to Gateshead as “a no-brainer” after he became the latest addition to Rob Elliot’s squad.

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Elliot has wasted little time in adding to his squad after returning for a second spell in charge.

After persuading Louis Storey to resume his duties as player-coach, Elliot signed striker Mark Beck on loan and defender Brad Nicholson on a free before Levi Amantchi and Keaton Ward both joined on 18-month deals.

After the sale of top goalscorer Kain Adom to Burton Albion was confirmed, Elliot secured the services of versatile forward Chadwick on a permanent deal after he spent the first half of the 2023/24 season on loan with Gateshead.

The former Hull City, Stockport County and York City player - who was recently on loan at Boston United and Scunthorpe United - scored four goals during his temporary stint on Tyneside.

He said: “As soon as I had the conversation with Rob and I saw that him and Louis had come back, I was desperate to get back enjoying my football again.
