Tamil Nadu CM Stalin inaugurates 280 government-built houses for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin on Saturday inaugurated 280 newly constructed free houses for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees at Kasthambadi village near Polur in Tiruvannamalai district, underscoring India's continuing humanitarian engagement with Tamils displaced by Sri Lanka's ethnic conflict.
The houses, built at a cost of INR22.62 crore, form part of a State-funded programme aimed at replacing the dilapidated single-room dwellings in rehabilitation camps established in the early 1990s.
Many refugee families have lived in these temporary structures for over three decades, with limited access to sanitation, drinking water and stable electricity.
