Ursu is ready to make his mark
The Herald
|March 31, 2023
CONSTANTIN Ursu is bidding to become the first Plymouth-based title holder since Scott Dynamite’ Dann when he takes on Matthew King for the vacant Southern Area welterweight title at the Guildhall tomorrow night.
The Moldova-born former European youth silver medallist can follow in the footsteps of the illustrious St Jude's southpaw by capturing the title, which tops an Ti-fight card on the Ultimate Glory show.
At 23, Ursu is reckoned to have a bright future ahead of him, but is remaining modest and gave away little in a pre-fight interview with The Herald.
Ursu said his training camp had remained the same ahead of his showdown with Portsmouth-based King, who is expected to bring between 80-100 fans with him to Plymouth.
“We've changed nothing," he said. We just want to improve all the time. I'm not only training for this fight, am training for my future.”
He added: I'm alright not excited or nervous really. feel that each fight have am better. am more confident now. am just looking forward to this fight.”
