Snake find raises fears of dumping of reptiles

A PLYMOUTH man stumbled across what is thought to be a dead python while on a walk at a Dartmoor beauty spot - sparking fears that pet owners are abandoning their reptiles.

The man, who wants to remain anonymous, was out for a walk at Venford Brook when he spotted the snake, thought to be a smaller breed of python.

The discovery, which comes after a boa constrictor was rescued by an RSPCA volunteer last week, has sparked fears the cost of living crisis is forcing owners to abandon their pets.

Many of the snakes RSPCA officers are called to collect are thought to be escaped pets, and some have 'sadly been abandoned' when their owners 'can no longer meet their needs!
