Mutley post office set to close in huge PO cuts

THE Post Office branch on Mutley Plain in Plymouth is facing potential closure as part of a major restructure which could lead to around 1,000 job losses across the country.

Post Offices in Liskeard, Teignmouth and Paignton are also among proposals to close 10 branches across the South West, as part of plans to shut 115 directly-owned branches across the UK.

Approximately 1,000 employees are at risk of redundancy, and further job threats loom at the Post Office’s headquarters, where efforts to streamline operations are underway.

Stores are to be cut from Post Offices from its extensive network of 11,500, with the possibility of them being handed over to retail partners or postmasters, or in some cases, closing down.
