Edwards and Cooper claim Division Two title

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Lewis and Richard, with the middle set in particular showing the guile of the veteran pairing with some deft net play from Chris and good baseline hitting from John.

Simon Dixon, with sub Miki Booth, lost the first set 6-4 to Jon Jacobs and Lee Horton, but when Simon and Miki, both left-handers, worked out each other's strengths, they got going and took the next two sets 6-1 6-1, and the match.

Hard fought games with extremely long rallies were the order of the day when Andrew Regan and Pete Ireland beat Roger Wratten and sub Rob Thomas 6-4, 6-3, 2-6.

In Ladies A, Claire Duffin and Helen Lucas found themselves 4-0 down to Hilary Picton and Linda Trebilcock before fighting back to win the first set on a tie-break.

They were more dominant in the second, winning it to love, before Hilary and Linda took the final set, going down to a 7-5, 6-0, 4-6 defeat.

It was a slow start by Sandra Fox and Chiara Ho when they took on Sue Newberry and Sue Gale, who took the first set. However, Sandra and Chiara’s coverage of the court and their ability to get every ball back, paid dividends and they took the win 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
