REVIEW: PLYMOUTH Philharmonic Choir's Opera Gala Evening
THIS is superb, the opening line of the Waltz Scene chorus from Eugene Onegin, perfectly summed up Plymouth Philharmonic Choir's Opera Gala Evening and got the party started.
The theme of the music, which included excerpts from 16 different operas, was love in all its many guises.
What could be worse than the man you've fallen in love with not being ready for commitment, and spending the evening flirting with your sister?
Is there a happier ending when love is reciprocated? Certainly not for Dido and Aeneas when, with skulduggery from witchcraft, Aeneas sails over the horizon leaving heartbroken Dido ending her life.
