Shooting at youth welfare centre in Germany leaves six staff dead

Four women and two men have been killed in a shooting at a youth welfare facility in north Germany, police said. Two people, including the suspected shooter, were arrested.
The incident took place in Stade, a city close to Hamburg, yesterday afternoon. Police said the victims, employees of the shelter, were all shot inside the building. Five died at the scene and the sixth died in hospital.
Police cordoned off the area and forensic experts and plainclothes officers were at the scene. Residents were initially told to avoid the area but were later informed there was no danger to the general population.
Reuters reported that a German police official had described the alleged shooter as a 45-year-old man who was a German citizen with Turkish roots. He had been in a custody dispute over his three-month-old daughter, police said.
