At least 1,700 typhoon-hit families in Talisay and Mandaue City received relief goods from the Office of the Vice President (OVP), while the Golden Icon Awards also conducted a separate relief operation in Compostela, as assistance efforts continue for communities affected by the recent calamity.

Through its spokesperson, Atty. Ruth Castelo, the OVP said the two-day relief distribution was part of its ongoing support for families still recovering from the effects of the typhoon.

The relief goods were distributed to 1,500 beneficiaries in Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, on Tuesday, December 10, and to 200 beneficiaries in Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, on Wednesday, December 11.

“Hindi pa sila fully recovered, so we give them assistance, kahit gamay lang, para makatabang bisan pa’g gamay sa ilang panginahanglan,” Castelo said, noting that the initiative aims to help ease the burden on affected families, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
