Brgy execs monitoring Butuanon easement

Local officials in Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, are now strictly monitoring the enforcement of the three-meter easement along four sitios in the Butuanon River as they take firm action to prevent the recurring problem of flooding.

This is according to Maguikay Barangay Captain Eduardo Gumera, who said the measure comes as there are no more evacuees from Maguikay staying in gyms or schools. Residents have already returned to their homes, while others are now renting.

The No-Build Zone covers four sitios in Barangay Maguikay, stretching from Sitio Yamog to Sitio Salvacion.

For those who returned to their previous areas, Gumera said they have been advised to move back and comply with the three-meter easement policy.

While some sitios still have available space for adjustments, others no longer do, forcing several families to look for rental options.
