Prez goes on Kuno safari, interacts with ‘Cheetah Mitras’

President Droupadi Murmu visited Kuno National Park to review India's landmark Project Cheetah.
On Sunday evening, she toured the Cheetah Management Area, went on a jungle safari, and was briefed by senior forest officials about the project. She was briefed on the monitoring and tracking mechanisms for the big cats. She also viewed an exhibition showcasing the progress achieved under the cheetah reintroduction project so far.
The President has an intimate connection with the Kuna cheetahs. During her state visit to Botswana in November 2025, the President witnessed the symbolic donation of eight cheetahs by Botswana, which came to Kuno in February 2026.
On Monday, the President interacted with ‘Cheetah Mitras' to learn about the conservation efforts of the fastest land animal at Kuno National Park, home to the reintroduced cheetahs, in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh.
