NMMC exec engineer suspended in Nerul electric shock incident

A day after two Class XII students suffered electric shock while wading through rainwater accumulated beneath the Nerul LP Flyover, the Navi Mumbai civic body has suspended Executive Engineer (Electrical) Pravin Hindurao Gade after a preliminary inquiry found him prima facie responsible for negligence.
Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against him for alleged dereliction of duty.
The victims were identified as Shubhangi Balkhande, 17 and Ujjwala Wagh, 19, who continue to remain hospitalised. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced that it will bear the entire cost of their treatment.
