Muzaffarnagar Judge's Death Penalty Verdicts Draw Spotlight

A Fast Track Court in Muzaffarnagar has once again drawn national attention after awarding the death penalty to the lone convict in the 2020 Home Guard Ratiram murder case, taking the total number of death sentences handed down by the same court to 11 convicts in five major murder cases over the past three months.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar sentenced convict Deepak to death for stabbing Home Guard Ratiram while he was on duty at Budhana Mor in 2020. The court described the crime as falling within the "rarest of rare" category. As per law, the sentence will require confirmation by the Allahabad High Court before it can be carried out.
